synopsis The play is in the form of a monologue presented by an actress who read yet undramatized version of Maria’s memoirs. In depicts Maria’s tragic life in post-war Poland. Maria was brought up in a poor family and it was the introduction of a new political system that brought changes to her life. She joined the Communist Party and became a fervent activist who did not even hesitate to denounce to the authorities the man she loved but whom she later considered a traitor. She describes her further life: university, married life, the quest for the meaning and purpose of her life, her lovers, social work for alcoholics, and a constant struggle to survive the rising feeling of solitude. She is dying now. She realizes her desire to pass on to people some part of herself; maybe a single one of her thought.
