synopsis The play set in an unspecified Latin American country, reconstitutes Shakespeare’s tragedy in the form of a long philosophical discussion between a kidnapped Ambassador and an anti-government Guerilla set to guard him. Battling against a cruel dictatorship, the insurgents have seized the prisoners who have been condemned to death. When the government refuses to make the exchange and instead executes the prisoners, the Guerilla – known by the pseudonym of Hamlet – must shoot the Ambassador.
