playwright Michal Walczak

Michal Walczak, born in 1980, is one of the most popular Polish playwrights of the younger generation. Despite his young age, he has written and staged many plays. After his debut with “Piaskownica” (The Sandbox, 2001, 11 stagings) he wrote “Podroz do wnetrza pokoju” (The Journey to the inside of the room; 5 stagings), “Nocny autobus” (The Night Bus), “Dziwna rzeka” (The Strange River), “Kopalnia” (The Mine), “Pierwszy raz” (The First Time), “Kac” (Hangover), “Biedny Ja” (Poor Me), and “Suka i Jej Nowy Koles”(The bitch and her new guy). “The Last Daddy” is his second play for children (after „Smutna krolewna” – “The Sad Princess”.) He has studied at the Warsaw School of Economics and in the Theatre Science and Theatre Directing departments of Warsaw Theatre Academy.
